Hey everyone, my name is Ellen and today I'm going to be showing you guys how to play Anxiety by Doi on the guitar. So I wanted to put together this really quick tutorial because in case you didn't know, you actually can play this the exact same way you play Somebody I Used to Know by Goautier, which I do have a full tutorial on my channel back from 2012. So I'll link that in the corner if you're interested for more of a full detailed breakdown of how to play this song. But today in this video, I thought I would just do a really quick overview for those of you who wanted to learn to play this. So let's go ahead and get started. All right, guys. So to play the song in the original key, we are going to be in standard tuning and we do not need a capo. And on top of that, there are only three chords to play through the entire song. We have our D minor. We also have our C major. And the last chord shape is our B flat. And those are the only three chords you need to know to play through this song. All right, guys. So, once you have those chords memorized, you want to make sure you can transition pretty quickly between them because this song, even though it's really easy with just those three chords, it does move between the chords really often. So, you want to make sure you have those transitions under your belt. But once you have that, basically what you want to do is if you want to strum this song, you just start with your D minor chord on and I would do a down up. Then you switch to your C chord. Same thing, down up. And you just do that back and forth for most of the song. We have D minor, C, D minor, C. And that'll work for basically the entire song. The only place that it's going to be different is when we bring the chorus in. And the chorus, we're going to have that B flat in there as well. So for the chorus you would go D minor down up to C down down up to B flat down down down up back to C down up and that's the new chord order for the choruses only. So that would go D minor C B flat C. All right. And that's the strumming you could use for the entire song. However, I do think it sounds a little bit better and closer to that kind of piano that we hear if you do a fingerpicking pattern. So, let me go ahead and talk about that next. All right, guys. So, for finger picking, it's not that much harder. You just want to know what strings you're going to pick with your right hand or your picking hand. Basically, for D minor, you're going to put your thumb on the D or fourth string. Then you want to take these three fingers, your pointer, middle, and ring, and put those on the bottom three strings and pluck them at the same time. All right? And then you're going to finish it out with your thumb again. And that's the whole pattern. So D minor is thumb al together, thumb. All right? Same thing with all the other chords. So for C major, we have our thumb moving to our fifth A string since that's the lowest note in that chord shape. But you do the same thing. You do thumb all three fingers back to your thumb. All right. And those are the only two chords for most of the song. You're just going to do that back and forth. We have D minor to C. And you want to do that back and forth. All right. And that's the whole thing. And then same thing when you get into the chorus, we are going to have that B flat chord as well. And that's going to be picked exactly the same way as C major. So for B flat, we have your thumb on the fifth A string and then all three together on the bottom three strings and then back to your thumb. All right. So for the chorus we have D minor to C to B flat to C. All right. And that's the chorus. D minor C B flat C. All right. And that's how you can play through the entire song with picking. All right, guys. So, that was my really quick breakdown of how to play this song. Like I said, if you need more detail on how to do anything like the rhythm, the picking, stuff like that, I do break it down more slowly in my older video, which I will link in the description box. Also, if you want access to my printable version of this song with the lyrics and the chords and everything on there, I will link that in the description box as well on my Patreon page. Anyways, thanks so much for watching. I hope you like this video and I will see you in my next one coming out soon. Bye.
