Hey everyone, it's Ellen and today I'm going to show you guys how to play Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus as requested via Twitter. Um, the whole song is very repetitive and I believe there's only six chords in them, so I'll go ahead and show you what those look like. All right. Her song starts off on a B5 chord, which looks like this and sounds like this. Then from there, she goes to D5, which is the same fingering position. You just shift up to the fifth and seventh frets. And then from there you go to A5, which looks the same except you just move all your fingers one string over. So notice so far the fingering pattern is the same for all the chords we've played. Um, from here you're going to go to G major, which kind of has the same same fingering pattern, except this time you're going to add your second finger on the fourth string. And it sounds like this. And then F sharp major is the same thing. It just slides down one fret. And then the last chord you're going to need to know is E minor, which looks like this. And sounds like this. All right. So, those are all the chords in the whole song. So go ahead and practice those and when you get the hang of them, then you can continue and I'll show you guys the plucking/strumming pattern. All right. Well, I'm assuming that if you're watching this video right now, you've probably heard the song before, so you know that it's very um on the beat, I guess you could say. So, um, the rhythm for the entire song stays pretty much the same and it just goes 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 And that's pretty much the same rhythm for the entire song. Um, sometimes she plays a little bit faster, but um, that's all up to you. Pretty much besides that rhythm, you could make up whatever you wanted and I'm sure it'll sound fine. So, uh, yeah, that's that. So, for those of you who are a little bit more advanced, there is something you can do to make the rhythm sound a little bit more like the original. Um, it's kind of like a sliding technique. I actually can't do it very well myself because I just taught myself this song this morning, but um, I'll show you guys how to do it just in case you want to go for it. So when you start on the first chord, which is the B5, all you have to do is slide up um one fret. So it goes 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4. So yeah, if you can get the hang of this motion, then uh it'll be more fun to play it like that and it'll sound a lot like the original. But uh if not, you can just like play all the eighth notes and it sounds fine, too. But uh yeah. Okay, so for any of you guys who have seen my previous tutorials, then you know what comes next. We're gonna put together our chords and our strumming or plucking pattern together and we're gonna play the song. Um, I'm gonna go a little bit slower than the real song just in case any of you guys are still having a little trouble with it. And I know I am, so I totally understand. And um, yeah, good luck. For those who don't know me, I can get a bit crazy. Have to get my way up 24 hours a day cuz I'm hot like that. Every guy everywhere just gives me mad attention like I'm under inspection. I always get to 10 cuz I'm built like that. I go through guys like money flying out their hands. They try to change me but they realize they can't. And every tomorrow is a day I never planned.
