You said it. 4 a.m. Hi, my name is Ellen and today I'm going to be showing you guys how to play Come Back Be Here by Taylor Swift on the guitar. So stay tuned if this is something that you'd like to learn. One last kiss, then catch your flight. So, there are a lot of different variations on ways you can play this. Um, I came up with three that I want to show you guys. So, the first way I'm going to show you is just the normal way that I feel like is the easiest and best of both worlds kind of way to play. This is my personal favorite as of how I would prefer to play this song. But if you're one of those people who absolutely cannot stand bar chords, then you might want to skip ahead to this time where I show you guys a way to play it with a capo but without bar chords. And then um also if you're one of those people who don't have a capo, then go ahead and skip to this time and I'll show you a way to play this song without a capo. But I will give you a warning. The chords are a little bit difficult and they're almost all bar chords. So it can be a little bit stressful if you're not good with bar chords. Of course, you can always visit some of my other TMTs that show you either how to make a capo or how to practice your bar chords so you can get better with that. But I'm going to go ahead and start with the way that I like to play it the most. And uh for that way, we will be needing bar chords as well as a capo, but it's not that bad. So, I'm going to go ahead and start into it and I'll start by showing you the chords. So, for this first way to play it, which is my personal favorite of how to play it, you will need to have your capo on the second fret. And for all three of these versions, your guitar will be tuned by standard tuning. So, yeah, go ahead and put your capo on the second fret for this way. And I'll go ahead and show you the four chords that you need to know for this song. So, the first chord you need to know is D, which looks like this and sounds like this. The X's mean not to play those strings. So, you're not going to be playing the bottom strings. Okay. After that, you need to know A, which looks like this. and sounds like this. Okay, the next chord you need to know is B minor. So, this is the bard chord you need to know and it looks like this. And it sounds like this. And the last chord you need to know is G, which looks like this. And sounds like this. So, those are the only four chords you need to know to play this song. They repeat themselves throughout the entire thing, and they only change order a couple of times, so it's really simple. So, I'm going to go ahead and show you some strumming patterns that you can use. So, like I always say, if you have no idea how to strum your guitar, then go ahead and start by playing through the entire song and just playing each chord one time on the beat. So, for instance, when we start with come back here, you would just play each note one time at the beginning of each measure. So, I'll give you an example of what that sounds like when you practice. it. And you would continue that through the entire song just to make sure you know where the chord transitions are and to make sure you can play through the entire song with all the different chords. Once you get that down, you can go ahead and make it a little bit more complicated by playing each chord four times. So, you're gonna still be on the beat, and it's just gonna sound like this. 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 So, you're going to practice through the whole song just like that. You said it in a simple way. 4 a.m. How strange that I don't know you at all. And the reason why I'm telling you to practice it this way is because if you can get that basic chord pattern down, it'll be really easy for you to dress it up by adding just a few things. So, I'm going to go ahead and show you one way you can quickly dress it up, which is by adding an extra down up at the end. So, this is the pattern so far that we have down down. But now, we're just going to scooch that over and add an extra down up at the end. So this will be strumming pattern one. Down, down, down, down, down, up. So 1 2 3 4 down, up. 1 2 3 4 down, up. So, it's really simple, right? We're just going to be playing each chord on the beat and then adding an extra down up to transition between chords. So, I'll give you an example of what that sounds like when you practice with singing. You said it in a simple way. 4 a.m. the second day. How strange that I don't know you at all. So once you're comfortable with playing that pattern, now we're going to switch it up a little bit more and we're going to create strumming pattern two, which is this pattern right here. So you can see the fundamentals of this pattern are still the same as earlier, but we've just added a couple of extra downs and ups in there. So, the way you would play this is down, down, down, up, up, down, up, down, down, down, up, up, down, down, up. You might be familiar with this pattern if you've watched any of my other tutorials because you do know that this is my favorite pattern to revert back to. Um, but it does work really well with this song as well. So, let's practice that a little bit more. One, two, down, up, up, down, down, up. One, two, down, up, up, down, down, up. You said it in a simple way. 4 a.m. the second day. How strange that I don't know you at all. So there is one more strumming pattern that I wanted to show you guys. This one I think sounds the most accurate as far as Taylor Swift's version is concerned. Um but it is a little bit more complicated. You do have to concentrate a little bit while you play and sync. But this is the pattern for the third strumming pattern I have for you. So, the purpose of this strumming pattern is to make it sound a little bit fuller. So, you would go down, down, down, up, down, down, down, up, down, up, down, down, up, down, down, down, up, I know that sounds a little bit complicated, but it is something that you can practice over and over again until your fingers and your hand kind of gets used to it. And then you can add in your singing. And it should sound something like this. You said it in a simple way. How strange that I don't know at all. So you can choose any of the above strumming patterns that I've just showed you and all of them will sound great with playing them through the song. And the secret to using the same strumming pattern through the entire song has a lot to do with dynamics. And what that is is how loud or soft you're playing your notes. So when you have the same strumming pattern over and over, a quick way to make it sound a little bit different is to go from loud to soft or from soft to loud. And you'll see what I mean when you go throughout the song. There are places when she gets a little bit softer. So, you'd want to play a little bit more lightly with your right hand or with your pick. And um when she gets a little bit louder, like during the chorus, you'd want to play a little bit harder with your hand or your pick. Now, there's one more very distinct part of Taylor Swift's song, which is the pre chorus, right before she goes into the chorus, spinning faster than the plane that took you. So, for that part, I like to emphasize it by just playing all downstrokes. spinning faster than the plane that you and then you can go into the chorus when the feeling sinks in. I don't want to miss you like this. Okay, so as far as strumming patterns, that's all I have to show you. It's really super simple and you can keep the same strumming pattern throughout the entire song. Like I said, you can just change it up with dynamics and things like that. So now go ahead and take some time to look through the entire song and make sure that you know all the chords and have them memorized and that you can transition between them and that you have your strumming pattern down pat whichever one you've chosen to use. And when you're ready, go ahead and click continue and I'll take you through the entire song. I'll list all of the lyrics and all of the chords in front of you and we'll play through it together. So, for those of you who would like to play this song using a co but without any bar chords, I have the solution for you and I'm going to go ahead and show you how to play it right now. So, for learning this song without having to play any bar chords, you're going to need your capo on the fourth fret. Again, you're still in standard tuning and you only need to know four chords and I'll go ahead and teach those to you right now. So, the first chord you're going to need to know is C, which looks like this, and sounds like this. Okay. After that, you need to know G, which looks like this. And sounds like this. Okay, after that you need to know a minor which looks like this and sounds like this. And the last chord you're going to need to know is F, which usually does look like this. It is a barred chord, but I do have an alternate fingering to show you, which is this. So, you can play F like this as well, and it doesn't require you to bar anything. And so, it would look like this. And sound like this. Now, regardless of whatever chord you're playing, the strumming is still going to be the same. So, make sure you visit this time right here to visit the strumming patterns that I've shown you. And then once you have your chords figured out and your strumming patterns down, go ahead and click continue and I'll take you through the entire song with all of the chords and everything and lyrics listed in front of you so you don't have to search for anything. Now, for those of you who don't have a capo and aren't afraid to challenge yourself a little bit with some more difficult chords, um I do have another version to show you. And I'll go ahead and tell you the chords right now. So, for this version, you're going to need to know the chords E, which looks like this, and sounds like this. Then you're going to need to know B, which looks like this. It's a bar chord and sounds like this. After that, you're going to need to know C sharp minor, which is another bar chord when it looks like this. And it sounds like this. And the last chord you're going to need to know is A, which looks like this. and sounds like this. So, even though these chords are different, the strumming patterns will still be the same. So, make sure to go to this time so that you can see the strumming patterns that I've shown you. And um yeah, once you get the chords down and the transitions and the strumming pattern down, then go ahead and click continue and I'll take you through the entire song using these chords and I'll have all the lyrics and everything listed in front of you.
