hey everyone my name is Ellen and today I'm going to be showing you guys how to play a deathbed coffee for your head by pal foo and B do be not the guitar so stay tuned if this is something that you want to learn so this song is going to be pretty great if you're a beginner go ahead and have your guitar in standard tuning and we do not need a capo in order to play this in the original key on top of that we only have four chords and one strumming pattern so let's go ahead and go into an overview of what I'll be teaching you in this tutorial so like I said at the beginning the song is only gonna require four chords those are C e minor F and F minor now F and F minor are Barre chords so if that is something that you are struggling with right now I do have a TMT on how to practice and get better at Barre chords including tips and tricks and exercises that you can do to get better at those so if you're already familiar with these four chords and that's perfect however if you do want me to go over them with you and show you the fingering and stuff like that go ahead and skip to this time here where I will show you how to play these chords and then after that we're gonna jump into the strumming patterns so I always start all of my videos out with a practice pattern which is just one simple down strum on the beat this is gonna be really helpful for anyone who's a little bit more unfamiliar with the song or is a beginner at guitar so basically you just want to go through the whole song and do one down strum for each chord change now if this is something you think you don't need to do then that's perfect however if you do want me to explain it to you a little bit more and give you an example of what it would sound like in the song go ahead and skip to this time here so I can further explain it but then after that we will jump into the actual strumming pattern that you can use for this song so as you can see it's just down down up up down up and it's gonna sound a little something like this alright so for this strumming pattern we're gonna play this through two times for every chord change throughout the entire song if you want me to explain this a little bit more to you and kind of break it down for you a little bit more go ahead and skip to this time where I will do that and show you how it goes in the song however if you feel like you already got the rhythm and everything just by watching me go ahead and skip to the play through here at the end where I will have all of the chords and lyrics and everything on screen in front of you so we can play through the song together but with all of that being said let's go ahead and jump into the more in-depth part of this tutorial and we'll start with a chord all right so now let's take a closer look at those courts like I said there's only four in this song and we'll start with our C chord which looks like this and sounds like this after that you want to know your Imai nur cord which looks like this and sounds like this next we have our F chord which is a bar chord and that looks like this and sounds like this and then the last chord you want to know is f minor and all you want to do for that is lift up this middle finger so that's your f minor chord and it looks like this and sounds like this and those are the only four chords you need to know for this song alright so once you have those chords memorized and you can transition between them let's go ahead and jump into the strumming patterns that you can use with this song I'll make a cup of coffee for your head I'll get you up and out of bed so if you're familiar with any of my other tutorials you know that I always start with a practice pattern for every song that's just gonna be one simple down strum on the beat for every chord change this is really going to help you get more of a feel of the song and just get used to where those chord transitions are gonna be if you're a beginner so let's go ahead and go through what this would sound like I'm gonna put my C chord on since that's the first chord in the song and all you want to do is trim it down once then you go to the next chord which is E minor strum down once then you have your F chord strum down once then F minor strum down once all right and so basically you just want to take this practice pattern through the whole song and kind of sing it or wrap it or whatever it is that you're gonna do to perform that way you know where those chord transitions are gonna be so let me go ahead and take you through an example of the little melody line stay away for too long don't go to bed I'll make a cup of coffee for your head I'll get you up and out of bed all right so you see just the one simple Down strum on the beat for every chord change once you have that we can jump into our actual strumming pattern so again this is going to be down down up down up and we're gonna play this through two times for every chord change so let's go ahead and go through the motions with our C chord on we've got down down Circle your hair out all right and that's the whole pattern we want to get this in rhythm so you can hear the rhythm so let me go ahead and play that for you one two one two three four all right so hopefully you were able to hear that rhythm why don't you go ahead and put your C chord on and try that with me 1 2 1 2 3 4 down up down downtown now a doubt all right perfect so once you have the rhythm down all we want to do now is put in those chord transitions so now remember we're playing this pattern through two times for every chord change so let me go ahead and put the chord transitions up on screen for you and let's go through this together so we've got our C chord on one two one two three four why twice you got it ooh all right perfect so I know in the strumming pattern instruction I've only been doing the little chorus melody line thing but throughout the rapping portions it's gonna be exactly the same thing the strumming pattern is the same the chord progressions are the same the entire song is very repetitive and it's always gonna go from C to E minor to F minor all right so once you have those chords memorized you can transition between them and you practice this strumming pattern we can actually put together all of those elements to go through the entire song this is death bed coffee for your head by pal foo and B Badou be good luck get you up Oh major I'll get you up I'll get you don't stay away for too long go to bed I'll make a cup of coffee for your head I'll get you up and going out
