hey everyone my name is Ellen and today I'm going to be showing you guys how to play dye in Your Arms by Justin Bieber on the guitar so stay tuned if this is something that you want to learn so this is kind of going to be one of those tutorials where I present chords to you guys that I'm not sure are actual cords um but I did try to name them as best as I could compared to you know real cords so bear with me but um these are the chords that I kind of came up with that I think sound pretty accurate to the song but are still pretty easy to play so there are only nine chords in the whole song and I'll go ahead and show you guys how those look and sound say as as I so the first chord you're going to need to know is a G chord which looks like this and sounds like this and then you're going to want to know a G major 7 chord which looks like this and sounds like this okay and then after that is going to go E minor which looks like this and sounds like this and then from there you're going to want to go to what I would call an E minor seven chord although it's a little bit different which looks like this and sounds like this okay after that you're going to want to know an A Minor which looks like this one and it sounds like this from there you're going to go to an A Minor 7 which looks almost like that you're just going to take off your third finger or your ring finger okay and then from there you're going to go to C which looks like this and sounds like this okay and then you're going to need to know D which looks like this and sounds like this and then the very last chord is needed for the bridge and that's a B minor which looks like this and sounds like this okay and those are all the chords you need to know for this song so I know this song's chords can be a little tricky to transition between so I'm going to go ahead and show you guys an easy way to transition between them so that it'll be a little bit faster for you to pick up so that you can play the song earlier so um yeah this is going to be how I transition and hopefully this will help you with your transitions so you're going to want to start out with your G chord because this song just kind of repeats itself over you just pretty much have to get these transitions down and then you can play the whole song so from G you're going to go to G major 7 and all you have to do for that is you're going to take off all three of these fingers leave your first where it is and take your ring finger or your third finger and put it on the very top E string third fret second fret I'm sorry okay and then when you play it that way it's kind of an easier transition okay so from your G major 7 chord you're going to want to switch over to E minor and easy way to do that is just to take off your third or ring finger so that your first finger is still on that original string and you're going to just take your second finger or your middle finger and place it right next to your first finger except now it's going to be on the D string okay so that's kind of an easier transition okay so from your E minor chord you're going to want to switch over to E minor 7 which is really easy all you have to do is take your third or ring finger and you're going to place it on the top E string onto the third fret so you're just adding a finger so it's kind of an easy transition it does give you a little bit of an awkward hand motion but you just have to get used to it okay from E minor 7 you're going to go to a minor so this would require you to completely just take off all your fingers and just do the a minor chord I think most of you should be a little more familiar with this one though cuz it's one of those normal chords that you see a lot in songs so you can just play that and this next part's really easy for a minor 7 you just take off your third or ring finger and that's a minor 7 so okay now you're on your a minor 7 and to go to C it's still easy all you got to do is take your your ring finger and then move it to the a string on the third fret most of you guys know C too so so it's just from a minor 7 to C and then lastly from C you just want to go over to D which again requires you to just take off all your fingers and then move to the D chord so when you put the whole thing all together and it does require a little bit of practice but once you get used to it it's definitely an easy song to learn after you get the whole pattern down the whole cycle down so the whole thing would sound like this and there you have it that cycle pretty much repeats itself throughout the entire thing all the verses um the little ooh all parts um even the choruses are all the same the only part that it gets different is the bridge but um that part I don't think needs transition help because I feel like it's pretty straightforward um so yeah I'll go ahead and teach you guys the strumming now way I could sh so this is the strumming that I use for a lot of songs but I think it pairs well with this song too and the way it goes is pretty much just down down up up up down down up and I know that that's kind of confusing but it's something I always say this in all my tutorials it's something that I just kind of started playing naturally and I think that's always the best option is just to go with whatever your body is feeling as far as the Rhythm but um if you want to use this one it just goes down up up up down down up so again that's down up up up down down up so when you hear it all together it goes like this if that's a little difficult for you especially with all the chord Transitions and everything I would suggest just starting out by strumming each chord on the Beat Just for every transition and then just kind of start singing the song with your um beats going like that and then if your and start kind of doing another Rhythm then just stick with whatever you've got cuz I think that that always works out better for every individual player is when you just kind of feel whatever rhythm you're feeling so now I've taught you the chords and how to transition between them a little more easily and I've also taught you one variation of a strumming pattern and of course you should always use whatever you think works best but um whenever you're ready to put all of those elements together we can go ahead and play through the whole song and I'll put all the chords in front of you so that you can can see them as they pass by yeah okay guys so hopefully you have all the chords and your strumming and all the transitioning and everything all down so let's go ahead and put all of those things together and play through the entire song um yeah good luck this is dye in Your Arms by Justin Bieber yeah all right say you love me as much as I love you could you
