Heat. Heat. Hi, my name is Ellen and today I'm going to be showing you guys how to play Everything Has Changed by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. So, um, stay tuned if this is something that you want to learn. So, I'm not going to lie, this song is a little bit difficult to play if you're a complete beginner at guitar for two reasons. One is because one of the chords is a B minor chord, which is a barred chord, and it's a little bit hard to play, especially if you're not used to it. But if you stay tuned till the end or go to this time, um I'm going to go ahead and show you guys a way to play it without using B minor. It sounds a little bit different, but it'll make do for those of you who can't do it. And the other reason is that you have to have a capo in order to play this song in the key that Taylor Swift sings it in. Um, but I also have a video over here if you want to check it out of me teaching you how to make a capo out of like household supplies and stuff. So, it's not that bad. And also, I recommend that if you have like 20 bucks lying around just to go ahead and buy one because they're not too expensive, but they're super useful. I know it's yesterday. So, to play this song in the key that Taylor Swift sings it in, you're going to need to put your cable on the fourth fret. So, 1 2 3 4. Um, and then you only need to know five chords for the whole song. So, I'll go ahead and teach you what those look like. So, the first chord that you guys need to know is D, which looks like this. and sounds like this. And remember the X's mean not to play the top two strings. Okay. After that you need to know G which looks like this and sounds like this. Okay. You'll also need to know B minor, which is a bard chord. It looks like this. And it sounds like this. Okay, you have to know a which looks like this and sounds like this. Sorry. And the very last chord you need to know is E minor 7, which looks like this. And sounds like this. I just you just Now I just know you're So again, I'm going to suggest that if you're completely brand new to strumming and guitar, um, go ahead and just play each chord once on the beat until you can kind of transition between them without really thinking about it too much. Um, and you can go ahead and just practice the whole song through just with one chord at a time. I just know you better know. I just know you know. Okay. Once you get the transitioning down, then you can go ahead and play around with your strumming. Make it a little bit more diverse. Um, here's an easy pattern I came up with that you guys can use. It just goes down, down, down, up, down, down, up. And so if you put your D chord on, it'll sound like this. Down. So for each chord in the song, you're going to be playing that whole pattern through once. So B, E minor, G, A. Okay. And you can use that strumming pattern for the entire song and it'll sound really great. So why don't we practice that first pattern by playing the chorus. Go ahead and put your D chord down and I'll count you off. 1 2 ready go. All I know is all I know is something changes yesterday has changed. All right, not so bad, right? If you're up for something a little bit more challenging, I have a second pattern I can show you. This one's a little bit more detailed, but it does sound a little bit more like the original song. So, the pattern for this is going to look like this. Down, down, up, up, down, down, up. And I know that seems very long, but it's something that came naturally to me, and I feel like it really fits in with the rhythm of this song. So, let's go ahead and break that down a little bit slower. So, go ahead and put your D chord down. And we're going to play it three times. Down, down, Then you're going to play down, up, down, up. Then you're going to circle back around. Go up, down, up, down. Circle back around. Down, up, down, down, down, down, up, up, down, down, up, down, down, down, down, up, up, down, down, down, down, up, up, down, Okay. And I know right now it sounds kind of the same because we're staying on the same chord. So I'm going to go ahead and teach you the first two measures of how to play the song. You're going to play the D chord for the first five beats. So, down, down, down, up. And then you're going to add your pinky for the D suspended and play the rest of the pattern. Up, down, down, up. So again, down, down, up, up, down, down, down, down, up, up, down, down, up. Okay, one more time. With your regular D, you're going to play 1 2 3 down, up. Now put your fourth finger on. Up, down, down, up. Once you get that pattern and play a little bit faster, it'll sound just like the beginning of the song. Okay. So, let's go ahead and practice through that whole pattern by playing the chorus. So, put your D chord down and I'm going to count us in. 1 2 3 4 All the way. I know today everything has changed. Nobody can tell me why. Feel like I miss you all this time. I just want to know. You better know. You better know. I just want to know you. Do you love you know I didn't I see. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. I know you know I know everything you know since yesterday is Everything has changed. Love you. Heat. Heat. N. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. I yesterday Feel like I missed you all this time, baby. I just want to know. You better know. You better know. I just want to know. You know, you know, you're all day. All I know is alone. All I know is everything. All I know is you found me. All I need your face. All I know since yesterday is everything has changed. And everything has changed. All I know you have. All right. So, if you're watching this right now, I'm assuming that the B minor chord is a little too hard for you to play. Um, that's okay cuz I found a way that we can play this without having to do B minor or any other barred chord. Um, it does sound a little bit different, but it's okay because it'll still sound fine if you sing with it. The secret is the chord progression, which is going to be this. And this chord progression will be for the entire song. So, these four chords you should be familiar with because I showed them to you at the beginning. And these are a little bit easier because none of them are barred chords. So, I'm going to show you what one of one like round of this sounds like. Okay. And the secret to this is you can actually play this exact pattern through the entire song and it'll sound fine. It's kind of like the cheating way of playing this song, but I'll go ahead and show you an example of what that would sound like. It's a little bit different, but like I said, if you sing with it, it sounds fine. So um starting from the beginning it would sound like this. I didn't see you. Heat. Heat. Oh my go change. And then you could play through the rest of the song with just that pattern. And it's just those four chords in this exact same order for the whole thing. I am going to tell you the one part you probably can't play with this chord progression is the bridge where she goes come back and tell me why. That part is going to sound off if you do it. But um if you're planning on doing a cover and you really just don't want to play the B minor chord, you could always just skip over the bridge or sing it ac cappella or you know find a creative way to not have to play the B minor chord. So that was my tutorial. I hope that it helped. I'm really sorry I couldn't find a way for you guys to play it without a capo, but it was just really difficult if you do it without a capo. And I'm sorry I couldn't find an alternate to the B minor chord. That's just something that will come with time and something that you should probably start learning when you feel a little more comfortable with some of these more basic chords.
