hi my name is Ellen and today let's learn glue song by Viva doobie on the guitar here's a quick overview of everything I'll be teaching you in this video and with that being said let's get started alright so we only have four chords to play through this whole song and we're going to start with our a chord which looks like this and sounds like this and by the way if you don't know how to read these chord charts you're seeing on screen make sure to check out my free beginner course right here the next chord is our F sharp minor seven next is our B7 and then the last chord is our B minor seven and really quick a note about these chord shapes I would recommend doing your a chord with these three fingers just because it's an easy transition into that F sharp minor seven you just put your first finger here then you go to your B7 and you fret it this way so that way you can just take off your index finger and that's your B minor seven and a second piece of advice is for that a chord as well as that B minor seven and that B7 chord I would recommend taking your thumb and just wrapping it around to barely touch that low E string that's going to help mute it while you're strumming these chords so it works for a it works for B7 and it works for B minor seven so go ahead and take some time to pause the video and memorize these chord shapes as well as practice transitioning back and forth between them it will make playing through the rest of the song so much easier and if you're someone who's struggling with quick enough chord transitions I would recommend checking out my practice with me Series where we build on that skill in real time together but once you've done that we can go ahead and talk about strumming now the first thing I'd recommend doing is singing through the whole song with a single down strum for each chord change and just take a mental note of which word or syllable you're singing whenever those chords are changing so here's a quick example of what that would look like all right and you basically just want to do that for the whole song and get really familiar with where those chords are changing if you'd like to print out a guide with everything that I'm teaching in this video make sure to check out my patreon page link below now one of the great things about this song is that you can use the same strumming pattern to play through the whole thing and as you can see it's just all down strum so let's go ahead and break down this Rhythm alright guys so this strumming Rhythm may be a little more unique than you're used to but we're going to be counting this in a triplet Rhythm so it's going to sound like this one and a two and a three and a four and all right so we have all down strums and each of these three groupings of the down strums is going to be its own beat one and a two and a three and a four and all right and the last thing to mention is we are going to be changing chords right in the middle so our first chord gets the first two beats one and a two and uh then you're gonna switch chords for the last two beats three and a four and all right so all together it'll sound like this one and a two and a three and a four and so each chord here gets six and you can use this pattern for the entire song like you do or else you'll have to miss me so although this strumming Rhythm Is Easy in the sense that it's all down strums it can take a little getting used to with that triplet Rhythm so go ahead and pause the video and take as much time as you need to really internalize that strumming pattern and then once you've done that we can play through the song one and two and a three and four foreign jamming out to the rest of the song with me then make sure to check out my patreon page where you can unlock access to this as well as all my other Fast Track and play along guitar tutorials I'll make sure to leave a link in the description box down below as well as in this icard right up here if you enjoyed learning this song you should definitely check out this video it's got a really similar Vibe and it's just as easy to play so I'll see you over there
