hey everyone it's Ellen here and today I'm going to be teaching you guys how to play Stay by Miley Cyrus off of her Can't Be Tamed album which is awesome so you guys should go get it if you haven't already um it was requested a little while ago but I just got around to it now cuz I've been pretty busy this summer but um hopefully this will help you guys and and yeah let's get started um you don't need a capo for this song so that's good for those of you who don't have a capo and there's only five chords in the whole song so it's pretty easy to learn so I guess we'll go ahead and get started with those um you start this song off with an A minor chord which looks like this and sounds like this and then from there you're going to go to an F chord which looks like this and sounds like this from there you go to a g which looks like this and sounds like this um the next one's a little trickier it's D Minor which looks like this and sounds like this remember not to play the strings that are marked with an X and the last chord you'll need to know for this song is C which looks like this and sounds like this okay so those are all the songs that she uses in this song or at least the ones that I could figure out but um I think it sounds pretty accurate so why don't you go ahead and practice those and then when you get them down then you can continue and I'll show you the strumming pattern and all that good stuff all right so you guys got your cords done good we'll go ahead and move on to the strumming um the very the beginning is very um on the Beats just 1 2 3 4 so it would just be like well it's good to hear your voice I hope you're doing fine and if you ever one I'm only here tonight and that goes on until about the second verse um the second verse is where I would start adding a little bit more fancy Rhythm if you want um so well I try to live without you the tears fall from my eyesone and I feel empty got I'm torn apart inside and the way I would play that would just be like down down down up up down down down down up up down down down down down up down but really you could just do whatever um rhythm you're most comfortable doing and I'm sure it'll fit right in and it'll sound really good so one more thing I wanted to show you guys um you know at the end when Miley kind of Whispers things a little which I really like um I think a fun way to play it on your guitar is to put down your pick and to kind of pluck the strings so I'm going to go ahead and show you something cool that you guys can do if you want to or you can continue strumming it'll sound good too um so go ahead and put your a minor chord down I would just play the bottom string and then the middle one of the middle strings then the top string and then another middle string so bottom Middle top middle and then if you did that while she was singing the last chorus and you did it for every chord you would play the bottom string one of the middle strings the top string and then another middle string so that part would be like I love you more than I did before and if today I don't see your face nothing's changed forgot the lyrics and then you could go go back to strumming and I think that's a really great way to play it but um if that's a little bit to advance then go ahead and strum it and it'll sound good too so um when you guys finish this then we can go ahead and put together the chords and the strumming and the plucking whatever you choose to do and um we can play the whole song okay so hopefully you guys got the strumming and and the plugging pattern down either or or both and the chord so we'll go ahead and put both of them together and play the entire song got to pull up the lyrics okay well it's good voice I hope you're doing fine if you ever wonder I'm only here tonight lost here in this moment as time keeps slipping by and if I could I just wish I had you by my side oh I miss you oh I need you and I love you more I did before
