hi my name is Ellen and today I'm going to be showing you guys how to play treacherous by Miss Taylor Swift so stay tuned if this is something that you'd like to learn so for this song If you're going to want to sing it in the same key as Taylor Swift's version you're going to need a capo and put it on the seventh fret so 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and if you don't have a cap you can play this song without one and it'll be the exact same chords and strumming pattern everything but it's actually a little bit higher than um how she sings it but let's go ahead and get started you're only going to need four chords to play this entire song and one strumming pattern so let go ahead and show you how those are your so as I said earlier this song only requires four chords to play the entire thing so it's really great for beginners let's go ahead and go through what those are first we have G which looks like this and sounds like this okay after that we have D suspended four which looks like this and sounds like this after that we have E minor 7 which looks like this and sounds like this and the very last chord you need to know is C add9 which looks like this and sounds like this and one bit of advice that I have is you notice that your your ring finger and your pinky never have to change strings or anything with g d suspended E minor 7 and C at 9 they're always going to be in the same spot so all you have to worry about is moving these two fingers between strings so why don't you go ahead and practice through those chords and once you have them memorized and you can transition between them we'll go ahead and go on to the struming patter and I I like it so to play this entire song you really only need to know one strumming pattern and I'll go ahead and show it to you it's very simple it's just down down up up down up so let me go ahead and show you what that sounds like down down up up down up down down up up down up why don't you go ahead and put on your G chord and practice that with me ready down down up up down up down down up of down awesome and once you get that pattern down all you have to do is put in some of those transitions so for most of the song it's going to go from G to D sustain to E minor 7 to C add9 so let's go ahead and see how those transitions sound when we play this entire string pattern through once for each chord so go ahead and put your G chord on we're going to play down down up up down up D down up up down up e down up up down up C down up up down up G D E minor c g Su stained E minor 7 C add 9 all right and that's pretty much the only strumming pattern you need to know for the whole song If you want to put a little bit more of variation in your song there is another strumming pattern you can try out which is this one it's just all downstrokes and sometimes she uses this when she's transitioning between verses and choruses just to kind of build it up so all you have to do for that is you're going to strum all downstrokes on the chord so let me go ahead and show you an example of where you can use that in the song and what it sounds like is slow is treacherous and I I I my to shine and then you can keep going so as you can see you only usually use it for one cord and it's just a kind of transition in there so you'll be seeing me do that in my cover when I show you guys how to play through it if you want to you can join me and I will specify at the very top which strumming pattern you should be using TR to get along going all right so now that we have our chords and our strumming pattern let's go ahead and play through the entire song this is treacherous by Taylor Swift good luck put your lips close to mine as long as they don't touch out of focus out of ey down the gravity too much and I'll do anything you say if you say it with your hand I'd be smart to walk away but you quick s this slope is treacherous this path is reg this slope is treacherous and I I I like it I can't decide if it's a choice getting slept away I hear the sound of my own voice asking you to stay and all we are in and B train get Al forever going with the flow but this SL treacherous this path is reckless this slow
